Three more songs for you...and the honesty box

This a post mainly for people who availed of the free download of 'Twisted City'. Firstly, I hope you enjoyed it!

Secondly, you're probably aware that there's an 'honesty box' which you can donate to if you're feeling generous. Donating means that I can a) record more independent music and b) promote it, so I'm always extremely grateful to anyone who helps out. The honesty box is powered by Paypal, so it should be nice and secure. The honesty box is at

As a mark of my appreciation to anyone who donates, I'm now making three bonus tracks available to anyone who puts a few quid in the box. These are the studio-recorded 'Streetlight', 'Somebody's Shoes' and the radio version of 'Gimme Something' (which features a rather different ending to the album version). To pick up your tracks, just donate and when you get to the the screen thanking you for your donation, make sure you click the 'return to donations co-ordinator' button.

So yes, that's a blatant bribe!

Don't worry if you've already donated - I'm going to send out an email to all the people who've already donated over the next couple of days with a link to the 3 songs.

If you'd like to hear some new music I've got in the er, pipeline, click Enjoy.

A bientot, all.

Crewe and Nantwich

Looks like Brown's in trouble. The Tories may well win the Crewe and Nantwich bye-election (I was there recently actually - lots of trains).

His problem is that people either vote for ideas or personalities. Since the Tories and Labour now have more or less the same ideas (cut taxes, sell off the public services and hitch yourself to US foreign policy) it's going to all boil down to personalities.

Given the choice, people are likely to vote for the guy who's a bit smoother and upbeat - and that's David Cameron (I'm not, obviously).

I don't think Labour can win an election without either a fundamental change in its policies or a fundamental change in its leadership. It will be interesting to see if the Crewe and Nantwich bye-election leads to either.

Live in London? Read this for the good of your health!

Dear All,

Some politics at lunchtime for you...

If you live in London, no doubt you're aware that today is the day that we're all voting in the Mayoral Election.

I don't want to come over all Bono, but it'd be great if you could join with me in doing your best to stop Boris getting elected.

That basically means giving Ken Livingstone either your first or second preference vote today. Ken may have his foibles, but they pale in comparison compared to what Boris would bring to London: he has a history of rascism, corruption and ineptitude - not to mention extreme right-wing opinions.

For years Boris has written a Daily Telegraph column and otherwise communicated his views and opinions, which include:

  • fanatical support for the Iraq war
  • fanatical support for George W Bush (he campaigned for him to win the US elections in both 2000 and 2004)
  • opposition to the Kyoto protocol on climate change (which every single developed country in the world apart from Bush's USA has now signed up to)
  • opposition to the minimum wage- support for rail privatisation (the cause of the current chaos and high fares)
  • opposition to the congestion charge
  • opposition to paternity leave
  • the belief that South Africa under Nelson Mandela represented “the majority tyranny of black rule”
  • such vocal and sustained criticism of the inquiry into the Stephen Lawrence murder case that Stephen's non-partisan mother has said he is “definitely not the right person” to be Mayor.
Given all the above, I can only see our quality of life in London being damaged were he to get elected. Boris may be funny, but the prospect of him having so much influence over our lives (in areas of transport, crime, security and much more) is no joke.

So please get out there and do whatever you can to stop Boris. You can start by copying and pasting this message and sending it to friends, but above all, get out and vote for Ken.

Many thanks and please excuse the politics! I'll start talking rock and roll again soon...

Best, Chris Singleton
